Diapers At Your Disposal

Diapers At Your Disposal

There are a lot of choices when it comes to diapering, but you also need a plan for diaper disposal. It was very important to me that there were no diaper odors in our home, so I did a lot of research and came up with the following:

  1. Buy a dedicated diaper pail. You don’t want to throw soiled diapers in a regular trash can—for sanitary AND odor-related reasons. I decided on the Ubbi Diaper Pail for its simple design and ease of use. I also liked the fact that no special bags are required—we use 13 Gallon Tall Kitchen Bags, and they work perfectly.

  2. Keep the roll of bags in the bottom of the diaper pail, and add a clean liner as soon as you remove the used one. This saves time and ensures that you will never toss a diaper into an unlined pail.

  3. Keep a Fresh Wave Odor Eliminating & Deodorizing Pack in the bottom of the pail. These odor eliminating packs effectively reduce the odors inside the pail. They make an immediate difference!

  4. Give the inside of a clean bag a spritz of Poo-Pourri Before You Go Toilet Spray every so often. This just adds a little extra freshness inside the can.

  5. Change the liner EVERY day, no matter what. This is a task that should be assigned to someone every day of the week, whether it be your husband, babysitter, older sibling, etc. This keeps the diaper pail clean, fresh, and more sanitary.

  6. Know that the inside of a diaper pail will have an odor when you open it, but it’s designed that way. Just keep up with the tips above, and you won’t have diaper odors in your home!
